Anh Nguyen is an independent multimedia artist. She has recently graduated with a Distinction award from the Bachelor of Digital Media program by University of Wollongong, Australia. Anh also has an Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media as well as a set of directing skills during her time with TAFE Illawarra. She has developed a broad range of practical skills from filmmaking (pre-production, production and post-production), photography, cinematography to 3D modeling and animation.

Using various media platforms including photography, cinematography and installation, Anh is passionate about exploring the everyday life via the aesthetic and intimate framework to provoke imagination and emotions. In 2016, at University of Wollongong, Anh created a split-screen video work reflecting Doug Aitken’s practice, Altered Gong (2016), depicting the beauty of urban Wollongong. Her colorful animations and illustrations are 3D low poly designs that explore the relationship between reality and fantasy.  Also in 2016, with TAFE Illawarra, she created a short low poly animation Sleep (2016) that reflects the contrast between dreams and reality.

Anh’s practice is mostly informed by her social and personal experiences while being greatly influenced by other artists such as Doug Aitken and Timothy Reynolds. She is aiming for a higher career within a close team in media production fields such as filmmaking and animation.

Her latest project is a video installation depicting mental illnesses and how they can consume people from within.
